TET with Friends – What’s Behind It?
Hardly any offroad route in Europe has become as popular as the Trans Euro Trail® (TET). Split into different countries and sections, riders can transform individual stages into true offroad adventures. Today, most people ride the TET on big adventure bikes, even though it was originally designed for lighter trail bikes.
The official TET site states:
"The Trans Euro Trail® is aimed at small and medium capacity trail bikes (...) Yamaha’s WR250R and XT600 etc. (...) Larger bikes can tackle it but riders need to be more experienced and competent."
So what does this mean for us?
Can we ride the TET with our bigger adventure bikes?
Yes – absolutely.
But the TET website does not list difficulty ratings, tricky sections, or technical challenges. Riders usually only find vague hints in forums or YouTube videos.
This is exactly where HighEnduroTours comes in. We take you on your Offroad Motorcycle Tour Italy without sending you into sections that are far beyond your skill level. All segments included in our tour have been scouted and graded by us. Our guides evaluate you as you ride and choose TET sections that match your abilities – challenging but not overwhelming.
Because let’s be honest:
Who wants to get stuck alone on a narrow single trail with half-meter rock steps and no way out? Nobody.
As guides, we are prepared for all situations. A flat tire or a minor mechanical issue is no problem on tour.

From Colle di Nava to Bardonecchia
Ligurian Alps / Piemont – Adventure Bike Tour Italy
Our guided Enduro Adventure Tour takes you on an unforgettable journey through the majestic Italian Alps, following historical military roads and reaching spectacular viewpoints. We ride legendary routes such as the Via del Sale, Strada Gardetta, and the Assietta Ridge Road, and visit the impressive Fort Jaffereau.
During the first days, we travel from hotel to hotel. After Day 3, we establish our base in Bardonecchia, from where we explore the region in day tours.
Tour Schedule
Day 1: Arrival in Colle di Nava & Welcome Dinner
Check-in between 16:00–19:00 at Hotel Lorenzina.
At 20:00 we meet for dinner and get to know each other.

Day 2: Via del Sale – The Gateway into the Alps
Our first objective is the legendary Via del Sale, a historic salt road along the Italian–French border. This old military track leads us deep into the high alpine world with gravel roads, tight bends, steep climbs, and constant panoramic views.
We ride through untouched landscapes, experience pure adventure, and enjoy sweeping vistas of peaks and valleys.
In the evening, we reach a cosy mountain lodge where we enjoy a rustic dinner and recap the day.

Day 3: Strada Gardetta & Assietta Ridge Road – High Above the Cottian Alps
Next, we ride the Strada Gardetta, a historic WWI military road crossing the wild Val Maira. The track runs above 2,400 m, past abandoned military structures and rugged alpine trails. The scenery is dramatic: jagged peaks, deep valleys, and crystal-clear mountain air.
Technical gravel sections allow you to refine your riding skills while the guide shares stories about the region’s history.
Another highlight is the Assietta Ridge Road, one of the most famous high-alpine routes in the Cottian Alps. Riding along the exposed ridge at over 2,500 meters, we enjoy breathtaking views across endless mountain ranges. The route is demanding but incredibly rewarding — the iconic feeling of riding the spine of the Alps is unforgettable.

Day 4: Fort Jaffereau – History Meets Mountain Adventure
A special highlight is the visit to Fort Jaffereau, standing at around 2,800 meters. Built in the late 19th century, the fort played a key role in regional defence lines.
We climb the steep ascent to the fortress and are rewarded with spectacular panoramas and historical insights shared by the guide.

Day 5–6: Bardonecchia – Basecamp & Day Trips
After the first hotel-to-hotel days, we settle into our base in Bardonecchia.
From here, we explore new routes each day, radiating out across the region.
This setup allows a relaxed pace and maximum riding variety.
Day 7: Return & Departure
On the final day, we start with a relaxed morning before transitioning back toward our starting point.
If you rented a motorcycle from us, or if you arrived with your own bike on a trailer at the first hotel, we will ride together on a three-hour transit stage back to Hotel Lorenzina in Colle di Nava.
This ensures that everyone—rental bike riders as well as those who left their car/trailer at the starting point—returns safely and conveniently to the original base.
After arriving back at the hotel, we load the bikes, say our farewells, and begin the journey home with unforgettable memories of our Italian Alps Adventure.
